Wills, Probate, Enduring Powers of Attorney and Estate Planning
WHERE THERE'S A WILL...............
Why risk a home-made Will, or use unqualified and unregulated Will-writing companies, when for a modest fee one of our experienced Solicitors can help you to be sure that everything you leave is dealt with as you would wish?
Our Wills service includes advice on the terms of your Will, the appointment of Executors and Guardians, gifts to charities and others and the best way to provide for your family or other people you wish to benefit. Where necessary, we will advise you about how to save Inheritance Tax, and any other dealings with your money and property which could make your Will more effective. We will also ensure that the Will is correctly signed and witnessed.
...............AND IN THE MEANTIME
0f course, a Will takes effect only when you die. Nowadays many people also want to appoint someone they trust to deal with their money and property during their lifetime if they become incapable of acting personally, due to illness, accident or simply old age. This can be done by asking us to prepare an Enduring Power Of Attorney, the cost of which is very modest indeed, compared with appointment of a Receiver by the Court of Protection.
IF SOMEONE HAS DIED...............
The last thing you want to have to think about, as the Executor or family, is sorting out the estate. Let us take the load from you - once you have handed over the relevant papers and information you can leave the rest to us. We will obtain the Grant Of Probate (or Letters of Administration), collect money and property due to the estate, sort out and pay taxes and debts, and distribute the estate to the beneficiaries.
Sometimes it is possible, after a person’s death, to re-arrange his or her affairs in order to save tax, but this may need to be done within a strict time limit, and we therefore recommend that you consult us at the earliest opportunity. |
